How to set up QUOTAS on Samba Shares (user home dirs)

Hi all,

We use a "user" share in Samba as a replacement of the user home dirs.
So every user sees all folders under this share but only has access to his own folder.
We would like to set up a quota on this share so a certain user has a certain amount of data he - she can put there.

Does anyone knows how you can do this on a organised fashion?
I know there is an option in CentOS for quotas but is it possible in Samba?

And how to do this because I don't have any experience in setting up quota's.

Thanks alot!!

You can setup standard quota system, comes with any standard linux distro and set appropriate permissions.

Please refer following link for setting up Quota.
http://www.linuxhomenetworking.com/w...ge_with_Quotas

Please note that for setting up quota, your shared samba folder should be on separate partition.
Quota can be applied only on partition, not on individual folders.

If still have doubts, please reply back.

thx for your reply

The problem is that we use 1 partition with several shares on it so only one share should have the quota's that's the problem.
