How to set up a mail and proxy server with the following features?


I would like to know how to setup the following on Red Hat 9 mail and proxy server,

- internet and email content filtering.
- internet and email traffic logging.
- mail auto responder,
- remote logging

Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Red Hat 9 is totally ancient and obsolete. The official end-of-life was on April 30, 2004 and it is no longer supported.

If you want to stick with RedHat then you should consider CentOS 5.

By the way, you can look at those:

Squid ( it has a lot of options and url rewriters )
Qmail
Iptables
Syslog
SSH

Ignore the Debian Etch part - the rest should work on any distro. Might have to tweak some paths, but it's all basically the same.

Email content filtering is another beast. Do you mean anti-virus or do you mean actual content filtering, as with Dan's Guardian?

Another possibility is Untangle. I haven't explored it much, but it's worth taking a look.
