How to Get Disk I/O Utilization Percentage on RHEL3


Hi to Everyone,

How can I get disk utilization percentage if I just have tps, rd_sec/s and wr_sec/s ? (assuming RHEL3 Update 6 is my current installed RHEL OS and update)

Based on the latest sysstat service I'm using on Ubuntu 8.04 (32-bit), there's a %utils portion, but none on RHEL3 (probably a added feature or enhancement on the latest kernel version, 2.6, I am right?). Is that the same on CPU utilization (%idle) that I could used as a ground whether my system is in over, normal, and low utilization?

Have you tried "sar -b".

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the response.

I would actually want to known if there's a matrix for disk I/O utilization in order for us to check if the our system's disk I/O process is normal, or over utilized.

I hope there is.
