how does $REMOTEHOST get set

Hello,

When you login using csh there is an environment variable $REMOTEHOST, how does this get set? If you login with bash it is not set.

Thank you

From "/etc/pam_env.conf":
Code:
# Set the REMOTEHOST variable for any hosts that are remote, default
# to "localhost" rather than not being set at all
#REMOTEHOST     DEFAULT=localhost OVERRIDE=@{PAM_RHOST}
You will still have to track down the series of environment files that get processed when csh starts as opposed to when bash starts.

You might have the best luck running
Code:
$ find /etc -name '*' -exec grep -H REMOTEHOST '{}' ';'
That is how I found the gem noted above.
