How can I stream audio to a server for internet radio?

Ok, basically I want to run an internet radio, however my bandwidth is too little from my DSL to run the server myself. I would only be able to handle maybe 4 listeners with a low bitrate.

My friend has an actual server in California and will let me use all the bandwidth I want to so I can stream the radio to a lot of listeners.

I want to know if and how it would be possible for me to stream the audio to his server, and then listeners would listen to the stream from his server live, with a delay of course. I know he will have to install some software, and so will I... but what is that software?

Everything I see wants me to run the server myself, but like I said, I have a low upstream. Of course I understand I will be running a server to stream it to him.

Some one suggested looking in to protocol and/or port forwarding and VPN, but I could not find anything helpful.

Solved

I will have to use the shoutcast DSP to stream to him: sc_trans.
He will have to install the shoutcast server for people to listen to the stream: sc_serv.

Maybe this should be posted somewhere for people who have a similar question.

Well, once you get it all setup and configured, write a howto and submit it to the http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answers/ section
