hot to set file permissions so users cant delete ?

hi

I use centos 5.2 for dedicated servers

I use vsftpd as FTP server

I want to set so users cant delete their files, only root can delete files
users can only edit and save

is it possible ?

That seems pretty odd. If users can write to a file, then they can in essence delete it by erasing everything on it and saving it.

In any case, proftpd may have some settings that you may find useful. Do not know if there is a similar setting in vsftpd:
