Hobbit Vs. Nagios ????
 

Hi Guys,

Please suggest me which one is better from server monitoring point of view - Nagios or Hobbit ?

My googling shows me Hobbit is better than Nagios. But I am in favour of Nagios.

Please provide your reviews.

Then maybe your search-fu is a bit flakey. IIGC Hobbits ancestor is Big Brother and Netsaint became Nagios. There's a (subjective since Wiki) comparison here and another way to look at it could be to compare progress. Looking at Nagios ViewCVS shows the last Nagios update was n days ago (coinciding with the new Nagios release) while looking at Hobbits Sourceforge CVS stats shows there has been no activity since the initial load (last release 2006). One could argue that a stable product doesn't need changing but one could argue equally valid there just is no maintainer or community support for and interest in the product. I like the versatility and extensive configuration and the plugin warehouse Nagios provides. I think the professional look of anything BB-ish appeals to those valued customers that consider shaggy carpets, cheese-on-a-stick, the Morris Oxford and Martini's as still being "far out".
