High Server load with pligg 48.02 - 52.84 - 47.29

High Server load with pligg 48.02 - 52.84 - 47.29

I don't know why but for some reason I have a crazy high server load today. I use pligg software and when I run the top command I see it's clearly mysql that is causing the issue. I know it's the main site because when I remove the public_html for that site the server calms down to a normal status. I just can't find out what is causing the high server load.

I have a dedicated server with godaddy, Intel Core 2 Duo - 2.13 GHz with 2gigs of ram.

Right now I'm getting about 1500 unique hits a day with about 5 page views each.

Is it possible it's time for an upgrade to a new server?

Is it possible for a httpd request to cause 70% processor usage?

Google in this forum to check if you have any processes in D state.
