help me about fetchmail

Hi everybody ,

I have tried to read alots articles to mentioned about fetchmail on this forum. But I can't do it. I couldn't find out my ~/.fetchmailrc file, so I created by touch ~/.fetchmailrc and chmod 775 ~/.fetchmailrc, and then I wrote some command in that likes :

poll mail.mycompany.com localdomains mycompany.com
proto pop3
no dns
user catch_all@mycompany.com password 'password' to * here

But when I run it by using command ~/.fetchmailrc. And I'm given like this

/root/.fetchmailrc: line 1: poll: command not found
/root/.fetchmailrc: line 2: proto: command not found
/root/.fetchmailrc: line 3: no: command not found
/root/.fetchmailrc: line 4: user: command not found

I'm so sorry because my English is not good and I'm newbie at Linux. I'm using Zimbra Open Source and fetchmail to configure my server to be Mail Offline. So I hope guys will be able to understand what I'm facing ?

Thanks for your helps,

Fetchmail isn't a shell script. You don't execute your .fetchmailrc directly.

type:

Code:
fetchmail -v
