help configuring my samba conf file


hi there guys im following a video on youtube on how to set up samba on ubuntu server and im following it along making my directory and then when i get sudo vi /etc/samba/smb.conf when it loads up there is no wirting at all on the page ive tried using the page up and down buttons but nothing is happening please help

There is likely no /etc/samba/smb.conf file, so you are creating a new file.

Normally there is an /etc/samba/smb.conf-sample file that is heavily annotated and can be quite confusing. The idea is that you can edit this and save it as /etc/samba/smb.conf.

I recommend Samba by Example as the most useful reference I have found. There is also a PDF.
