getting error while adding account in LDAP "ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49)"

Hi, I am setting a ldap server by reffering (http://www.howtoforge.com/linux_open..._server_client) and getting following error in step #12

[root@ldap ~]# ldapadd -x -D "cn=Manager,dc=adminmart,dc=com" -W -f /etc/openldap/adminmart.com.ldif
Enter LDAP Password:
ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49)

Please suggest !!!. I am using RHEL 5.5

Hi,

Which password did you create in steps 3?

The mentioned "password" in those steps is the encrypted password, the actual password isn't given. You need to create a password yourself in step 3 and paste the encrypted string that is returned into slapd.conf (step 4). Do remember to restart (step 5).

Hope this helps.

Step #4. Update /etc/openldap/slapd.conf for the root password

[root@ldap ~]# vi /etc/openldap/slapd.conf

#68 database bdb
#69 suffix "dc=adminmart,dc=com"
#70 rootdn "cn=Manager,dc=adminmart,dc=com"
#71 rootpw {SSHA}cWB1VzxDXZLf6F4pwvyNvApBQ8G/DltW
Please post this section of your slapd.conf file.

This thread has been closed for TWO YEARS now. And whatever changes they made will probably NOT work for you, since your environments are different. And did you read what they posted?

It TELLS YOU what to do, and even tells you what to look for in Google for a similar solution, which is where they found it.
