We have Redhat linux 9.0 in our office and i configured vsftpd server, the problem is if open the ftp server in my brower all the root folders are getting listed, I don't want to list other folders and files, as soon as users login it should show only their home directory nothing else. If i try the same in command prompt from the client machine it goes directly to the home directory.
Can any one guide me how to go to users home folder directly while loggin in...
you will have a file with the name of vsftpd_chroot_list add the users inside this file and the user will not be able to get up a directory from their home directories.

There is one of the two ftp-clients doing something wrong. Both clients should log the user at the same place, chroot or not.
I would really like to know which browser the OP is talking about.
Chroot will lock the user in his home directory so that he can not even manually go back to /.
Yes. if i login from command prompt to ftp server, i am getting locked in home directory. But if i login from browser still my root folders list is getting displayed as soon as i press enter after ftp://192.168.1.5 in the address bar. Then i need to click home directory , at that time it's asking user id and passwd. I am using IE7.
