FTP Server Distro Question

Ok here is my quandary, I finally convinced my boss to let me replace the Windoz FTP server with a Linux one. Now I have to build it.

My "proof of concept" box is a compaq evo 1.7ghz with 256mb ram and 20 gig HD.

I need to run vsftp and need webmin or an easy way to admin the box and ftp server for the NT guys who don't know much about linux.

Could you sugest a distro?

Slackware, Debian, RedHat to name a few.

Please consider support in the decision that is taken. You pay for RH, but you get support.

His boss will probably chuck a spaz if he mentions money _after_ convincing him Linux is the way to go ;).

Why are you going with Linux anyway? Trying to make ourselves indisposible are we? Well done ;).

To answer your question, Debian or Slackware are excellent choices. Debian is the best distro that I've used though, by far.

I don't know why vsftp has seemingly become so popular, I loved proftpd in my ftp admin days. I presume that it's still around... oh good, it is.

I have no idea about webmin, but file based is easy enough, of course you don't want the opposition learning too much about our niche now do we? :D

CentOS is grate as its free RedHat!

Theres tones of support out there for it, as you can just use any support for redhat from forums etc.
