ftp issue


Dear All,
I am facing ftp problem as when i Ftp to my server from command line and use ls -ltr is displays no file BUT ls WORKS FINE.
THE O/P IS AS BELOW,

ftp> ls -ltr
200 PORT command successful
150 Connecting to port 4998
226 0 matches total
ftp>

Use dir instead of ls if you want to see file attributes. ftp doesn't take flags on any commmands, as far as I know.

Basically I have two ftp server's and I able to execute the command ls -ltr on another server from command prompt.
I was unable to get to the root of the issue.
Pls help me to resolve the issue

From the command prompt or from the ftp prompt? ls -ltr works in the shell but I've never seen it work in an ftp client.
