FTP client fails - error says 500 Unknown user
I have a Centos 5.3 server.
I have vsftpd 2.0.5-28
It works fine for local ftp'ing (lan).
I have it setup where (1) user can login from the internet.
I can ftp something to it from DOS or another linux server fine.
But, I have a handheld scanner with Windows Mobile 5 on it, that I Need to be able to ftp from.
My problem is, the ftp transfer fails. When I look at the vsftpd.log file. It shows the session logged on successfully.
But, then it looks like an extra USER command is sent. Then the Vsftpd server says, 500 Unknown command and the connection stops.
I would say, it was just a bad FTP CLIENT.
However, I can take the same unit and point it at an FTP ADDRESS at godaddy storage. It logs in, AND I can download files no problem.
The ftp server at godaddy storage says it is VSFTPD 3.03.
So, I am just wondering if there is a setting I can change in my FTP server to get this to work.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
The client is sending the command, there isnt anything you can do on the server. You need to figure out why the FTP client is sending the USER command again, I have never seen anything like this before but the client is definitely the cause.
