FreeRadius Total Thread Count limit

Hi,

I have FreeRadius 1.1.7 and when I send radius requests from an external script, it's stuck at:

Threads: total/active/spare threads = 300/253/47 [ at test 1 ]
Threads: total/active/spare threads = 298/251/47 [ at test 2 ]

and a following
FATAL: Thread create failed: Cannot allocate memory

line.

I have also extended the thread count for /proc/sys/kernel/threads-max
but the radiusd exits at total 300 threads.

Here are my radiusd.conf parameters:
thread pool {
start_servers = 128
max_servers = 512
min_spare_servers = 48
max_spare_servers = 96
max_requests_per_server = 512
}

Is there anyone to help me to understand why radiusd is failing at 300 Total threads?

Regards,
kursat

Am guessing you do not have enough RAM, that is why it can not allocate anymore memory.

Actually I have 4G of RAM on this machine. I'm not sure whether I have dedicated enough RAM for freeradius or not. Even this error is received there were around 3G of memory free. I'm guessing if this a hard limit on freeradius or it's my thread pool configuration problem.

GLIBC: version 2.3.4
kernel : 2.6.9-67.ELsmp
