Free NAS how do you make many drives look like one without raid!! Also a VPN Problem!
Free NAS how do you make many drives look like one without raid!!! I want to put about 3 drives into the nas and also my drive running it has a lot room free how can you use a raid 0 idea but i want it to look like one drive/partition and when one it full it goes on to the next drive/partition, without any user knowledge. Just a thought. Thanks for the input it really helps! P.s. How do you set up a vpn for out of network use? thanks!

are you actually talking about FreeNas the distribution? If so then that's BSD, not Linux, and i think the only integrated option is a software raid 0, which is fine normally. Under a generic linux system, LVM2 would be a more elegant option for you. As for VPNs check general howto's at tldp.org and such, we can't walk you through things like that. if you have specific questions, please start a new thread.

You're probably looking for JBOD, which is an option in FreeNAS
