Folder/File sharing and read/write access?

can some1 please help me

im trying to share certain folders/files on one linux machine so that i can access them from another linux/windows machine.

i also want to move those files from the linux machine to another linux machine BUT onto ntfs partitions. ive been told to use ntfs3g for the write access but it hasnt worked for me as yet. is there a place to get an rpm or a repo i can add? something may not have worked properley for me when i did make/make installs on fuse and ntfs3g source codes

thanks

Hi,

Samba is what you will most likely want to share files, should allready be on your system but just needs configured.

http://us4.samba.org/samba/

This is from my experience, but when I was running a 2.4 kernel then yeh, NTFS write was at the best shaky, but on a 2.6 kernel I have had no issues writing to an NTFS partition, and I weekly backup > 225G.

Hope that helps a little.
