Flaky Samba Shares

I'm running Samba 3.0.33-3.7.el5 on CentOS 5.3 as a PDC for WinXP clients. All of the clients connect with no problem but after one or two browses of any share the client freezes for either a short time or some times quite a long time. I can clear it by restarting Samba. WINS is enabled and set on the clients. I have also disabled web client. Testing has included using the server name as well as IP for the shares with no change.
