firewall-cmd - how can I switch back to public?

With firewall-cmd - how can I switch back to public? I created a test zone called default1, but not its not letting me assign public back to eth0.

Code:
[root@test ~]# firewall-cmd --get-active-zones
default1
  interfaces: eth0
[root@test ~]# firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --change-interface=eth0
success
[root@test ~]# firewall-cmd --get-active-zones
default1
  interfaces: eth0
[root@test ~]# firewall-cmd --reload
success
[root@test ~]# firewall-cmd --get-active-zones
default1
  interfaces: eth0
[root@test ~]# firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=default1 --remove-interface=eth0
success
[root@test ~]# firewall-cmd --reload
success
[root@test ~]# firewall-cmd --get-active-zones
default1
  interfaces: eth0
