Fast login via ssh / Slow login via login manager with machine in AD-domain
Dear board,
This is my first post. Thanks for this forum. I just put together a linux (Debian 8) machine that I joined successfully to an Active Directory domain. Everything works fine so far, I can login with domain accounts and everything becomes mounted well. Now I wonder why when ssh'ing to the machine, login with domain accounts and machine-local accounts is quite fast ... but when login in in front of the computer using LightDM the login process is a bit slow (both for domain and local users). After typing a (correct) username, tabbing to the password field takes, well, 20 seconds or so. During that time, LightDM seems a bit frozen (although the mouse pointer can be moved and I can switch to a console by CTRL+ALT+F-key). I had a look in the PAM-configuration but everything seems ok. Do you have any hints? /var/log/auth.log shows no problems IMHO. Thanks a lot in advance for any answer. Greetings from Germany Benjamin |
Dear board,
I just disabled user- and group-enumeration in my smb.conf. That solved the problem, login via login manager now is quite fast, too. But why is "graphical login" affected by that enumeration-option, but not login via ssh? Best greetings Benjamin |
Dear board,
As mentioned above, the problem is solved (though another question arose (ssh vs. gui-login)). Shall I mark this as solved and open a new topic? Thanks and best greetings Benjamin |
