I have successfully emerged ruby. When emerging rubygems I get an error:

/usr/bin/ruby: no such file to load -- auto_gem (LoadError)

While searching for fix, I saw a thread that had me prepend rubyopt="" (I.e. rubyopt="" emerge rubygems).


This didnt help.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

RUBYOPT="" emerge -av rubygems works (silly me, musta been the lowercase that got me)

So what is wrong with carrying on a conversation with myself?

I am running into a problem with running a ruby script that would query a mysql db.

Error: `require': no such file to load -- mysql (LoadError)

in my script I have the following:

require 'mysql'

Should I post this somewhere else, or is this thread ok for this question?
