How are you trying to update RHEL4 exactly? Post the command you're running, along with its output.

Hi

thanks for your reply, actually what i m doing is,

rpm -ihv compat-oracle-rhel4-1.0-5.i386.rpm
rpm -ihv compat-libcwait-2.1-1.i386.rpm

in order for me to run oracle installation.
and in order for this 2 command to run successfully. it depend on some other file.

so i run :-
rpm -ihv xorg-x11-devel-6.8.1-23.EL.i386.rpm
and
rpm -ihv xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-devel-6.8.1-23.EL.i386.rpm

then i hit the error while i run it the dependance file from the patch name i receive in folder RPMforLinux4.

It sounds like you have some third-party packages to install. The xorg packages should be available via the RHN, though, so install them normally using up2date.

I understand. I am saying that you should install the packages that Oracle requires by using the RHN (e.g. via the up2date command).
