ERROR:Starting NFS daemon: [FAILED]


hI

I had installed portmap and nfs package using yum repo. i started portmap it started up well but im facing problem in starting up nfs server its delivering the following error

[root@localhost ~]# /etc/init.d/nfs restart
Shutting down NFS mountd: [FAILED]
Shutting down NFS daemon: [FAILED]
Shutting down NFS quotas: [ OK ]
Starting NFS services: [ OK ]
Starting NFS quotas: [ OK ]
Starting NFS daemon: [FAILED]
[root@localhost ~]#

[root@localhost ~]# rpm -qa | grep nfs
nfs-utils-lib-1.0.8-7.6.el5
nfs-utils-lib-devel-1.0.8-7.6.el5
sblim-cmpi-nfsv3-1.1.0-47.el5
sblim-cmpi-nfsv4-test-1.1.0-47.el5

can someone help me out how can i resolve the issue

Some reason you have two different versions of nfs-utils-lib and nfs-utils loaded??

Again, what version/distro of Linux are you using?? And without some detailed information from the NFS/system logs, there's nothing we can tell you.

Sorry, but again, you need to provide DETAILS. There are more than just five lines in your system logs, and posting the same five lines as before tells us nothing new. And as I asked in my first post, some reason you've got two different versions of nfs-utils-lib and nfs-utils installed? You didn't answer that. And have you set up your list of exports??

Are you running this on a virtual server, or a real, physical server? Have you checked the CentOS forums, as this is a known issue:
