DVD burning on a headless, command-line-only system

I have a headless (no monitor or keyboard) server that is managed via SSH. I want to create a script that will backup certain data to DVD on demand (meaning, I stick a blank DVD in the drive and then run the script). The data can be first written to one or more tar archives on harddrive space and then the .tar's burned to the DVD. I have no problem writing the script to create the tar archives, but I don't know what command-line software exists for burning to a DVD. If someone can point me to appropriate software, I can take it from there

The server is running Centos 5 and there's no GUI (command line only).

Thanks!

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I am not sure that is correct. However, you are asking for me to say that you need to look at cdrecord/cdrao/wodim/cdrtools.

The reason that I suspect that wasn't a good answer for you is that it wouldn't have helped me much. If, like me, you want to wimp out on the full command line experience, I think a better suggestion is to, on a machine with a gui, fire up k3b and have a look at the command line that it uses. I just think that a look at that will turn out to be educational.

I'm not sure what the party-pooping / wimping-out bits are all about but thanks for dropping some names. I'll have a looking into cdrecord/cdrtools first I think.

When you look into the man page for cdrecord et al, you will understand. You will need quite an involved command to get what you want.

I had to try this once and looking at what k3b did was a big help to me.
