Hi All,

I'm trying to configure dovecot in RHEL6, but seems system won't accept local user login. I've already disabled pam.

I've tried mutt -f imap://xxxx, and Thunderbird to connect as imap and pop3, but both failed, seems dovecot won't accept the password of the login user.

Can somebody help me? Did I miss some part of configuration?

Try commenting out the passdb block that has driver = passwd. I believe that it is telling dovecot to authenticate against the password in the /etc/passwd file. Unless you have a non-standard setup, your userdb should be passwd and your passdb should be shadow.
