I wanted to check if anyone faced this scenario or not. Any input if someone can share greatly appreciated. Following is scenario:-
I have set of workstations are accessing internet directly but for few specific sites I want to it redirect them through squid proxy. The way I am thinking of doing is by DNS static entries on DNS servers for those specific sites it will point to proxy IP. But now question is how proxy will actually resolve real IP of internet site and forward that request as internal DNS is point proxy as that destination. Any suggestion how can I make it work or should I use any other way to redirect traffic for specific sites?
Just as a suggestion, you might want to change your username using the instructions at the top of the page here, lest your email inbox ends up with a boatload of SPAM in the very near future.
How about you forward all web traffic to the proxy and only filter out what you need to and let the rest pass without inspection? A far better solution then messing with DNS which could cause outages for your users.
First of all ensure that you have squid installed at your Dynamic DNS. After installing squid, you need to set access control in squid configuration file which resides in /etc/squid by default. Open /etc/squid/squid.conf and add/edit following lines according to your preferences. Few lines already exist in the configuration file, you can add the rest.

Now, start the squid proxy server as
service squid start
Also, if you want squid to be started every time you boot the machine, execute the following command
chkconfig --level 345 squid on
You have a squid proxy server running now. You can ask clients to configure there browsers to use 192.168.36.204 as a proxy server with 8080 as proxy port. Command line utilities like elinks, lynx, yum, wget etc. can be asked to use proxy by exporting http_proxy variable as below. Users can also add these lines to ~/.bashrc file to avoid exporting every-time.
