Hi,
I've got 3 Windows XP client machines which logon to a Samba PDC. I also have a separate development server which sits on the same network. All these machines sit behind an ADSL Router (DG834G).
What I want is to be able to use domain names and sub-domains to access the internal development server (it's running LAMP with a static IP) without actually actually owning that domain e.g.:
http://dev-server/
http://project1.dev-server/
http://project2.dev-server/
But short of manually editing each client's "hosts" file each time we create a new sub-domain I can't figure out an easier way. I know I could do it by editing the logon script for the clients but even then it would require that each of the client machine's reboot before seeing the new domain.
Could anyone shed any light on how best to achieve this?
Thanks,
James.
