DNS setup


hi guys, i want to know why this error appeared when i started my dns through the command rndc start..
the error is

rndc: connect failed: 127.0.0.1#953: connection refused

i followed the intructions from this site. http://www.bsdguides.org/guides/free...g/install_bind
can anybody help me?..im using freebsd.. tanx

It could be that there was a problem with the key you generated. Did you run rndc-confgen -a during the process?

yes. i run rndc-confgen -a and i also copied it into my named.conf..

With the -a switch it's supposed to make the changes for you. Did it create the file rndc.key in /etc (or wherever you have your sysconf directory)?

Running rndc-confgen without switches dumps its output to stdout so that you can make the changes manually. The man page should have more info on the different ways of running it.

thanks gilead. its already fixed. its my rndc.key configuration problem.

Turn off the RNDC from your firewall... and also comment the RNDC part of the bind config file
