DNS Server Cache


Hey guys where does the Master DNS save its cache of information?

A Fedora-8, configured to be a master DNS server.

The dns cache is stored in the memory. You can view its contents running:

rndc dumpdb
and look for a file named_dump.db (this is the default filename and by default it will be created in the directory defined by the "directory ..." line in named.conf). The dump filename and location can be altered using:

dump-file "/absolute/path/to/dumpdb";
in named.conf.
