DNS server: BIND or openDNS?

Hi guys,

Does opendns server works as a replacement to bind?

PS
I was using bind over ubuntu but recently I migrated to Mint KDE and I discovered that Mint KDE uses opendns.

OpenDNS is an online DNS service, it's not server software.

And aligning your choice of DNS server to your distro..? That seems like a very dubious motivation any way round. Am i missing something here? What are you using BIND for?
