DMZ - linux outbound request not going out


Hi All,

We have DMZ server with ubuntu linux installed. The problem now i am facing is that i am not able to connect any outbound traffic eventhough all network stuffs have been configured.

if i give,

$ wget www.yahoo.com
--08:31:08-- http://www.yahoo.com/
=> `index.html'
Resolving www.yahoo.com...
failed: Name or service not known.

this is the error I am getting...

pls help me out...

Does /etc/resolv.conf have proper DNS server addresses in it? Have you checked to make sure the local and/or network firewall isn't filtering this outgoing traffic? For a lot of DMZ installations filtering all outbound connections/streams is standard operating procedure, as it limits the amount of damage the server will cause when it gets compromised.
