DJBDNS telnet issue

Hi. Im relatively new to Linux.

Ive just setup DJBDNS on slackware 11. ive got the DNSCACHE and two instances (only one server) of tinydns running and working ok, but when i try to telnet to my ip from a different connection i get connection closed by foreign host. Ive checked all port forwarding and access-lists on both routers and they are fine.

this is the output

telnet 149.x.x.x 53
Trying 149.x.x.x...
Connected to 149.x.x.x.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.

Has anyone got any ideas please. it would be greatly appreciated.

Just a couple of thoughts, I've not used djbdns but generally speaking... If you are trying to test your typicaly DNS functions then telnet isn't that much use. Telnet will establish a TCP connection but your name server will be using UDP, typically.

You would be better off testing your server using something like dig, so say
Code:
dig www.somesite.com @192.168.1.1
clearly with 192.168.1.1 replaced with the ip or name of your name server. Tell me more about your delegation problems.

HTH

If you need help start a new thread, this one is over a year old so you might not get much in reply.
