dependency problem installing amanda bakup

friends,
i wish to try doing backUps in a mixed platform enviroment.
i wish to install the amanda media server on a cent)S 5 machine

I have run into a dependecy problem - i have r ied2 methods - i hope someone can assist me.

when I try:
amanda-dwnload]# rpm -ivh amanda-backup_server-3.1.0-2.rhel4.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libcurl.so.3 is needed by amanda-backup_server-3.1.0-2.rhel4
libidn.so.11 is needed by amanda-backup_server-3.1.0-2.rhel4
tar >= 1.14 is needed by amanda-backup_server-3.1.0-2.rhel4

so I TRED ME OLD PAL yum

when i try:
yum -y install amanda*
Gathering header information file(s) from server(s)
Server: Fedora Linux / stable for Red Hat Linux 3ES (i386)
retrygrab() failed for:
http://download.fedora.us/fedora/red...rs/header.info
Executing failover method
failover: out of servers to try
Error getting file http://download.fedora.us/fedora/red...rs/header.info
[Errno 4] IOError: HTTP Error 404: Not Found

so -- what might be best? I *think I might need to 'fix' yum like add a repsitory(?)

any assistance would be appreciated. thanks!

The package amanda-backup_server-3.1.0-2.rhel4
is for the old CentOS4.

Please show the output from : cat /etc/redhat-release
And : ls /etc/yum.repos.d/

(This is not valid for CentOS 5 :
""Server: Fedora Linux / stable for Red Hat Linux 3ES (i386)"" ).
So rather than adding a repo, all non valid ones must be removed.
'amanda*' is in the "CentOS base repo".

i did those 2

i did cat /etc/redhat-release

cat /etc/redhat-release
CentOS release 5.5 (Final)

and i did ls /etc/yum.repos.d/

ls /etc/yum.repos.d/
CentOS-Base.repo mirrors-rpmforge rpmforge-testing.repo
CentOS-Media.repo rpmforge.repo

ok so -- if I understand you correctly
yum -y install amanda*
should work --- BUT i have a "wrong" repo in my list one of these

CentOS-Base.repo mirrors-rpmforge rpmforge-testing.repo
CentOS-Media.repo rpmforge.repo

with CentOS-Base.repo certainly being a good one -- but i need to remove somebody?
and you can tell which one -?
--and at that time .
yum -y install amanda*
will work ( and there will be much rejoicing )

I do presently know how to remove one..
I am betting rpmforge-testing.repo or mirrors-rpmforge is the culprit
just a guess.

thanks for the help!
