Debugging Disk Performance

Hi,

I'm running the latest Ubuntu Server as a VM on my MacBook Pro as a MongoDB server handling some pretty large amounts of data. I am noticing through top that about half of the CPU time is being spent waiting for I/O. What can I use and are there any useful resources for debugging this further?

Thanks,
Rob

Check your free memory. Swap file may create a iteration to HDD. It also makes your PC Slow.

As you are running your server in a VM, any process on the host that produces disk-IO can slow down your server.
