Debian 5 - Software RAID 10 setup

Hi All,

Recently i was given a chance to setup a brand new office backup server but with limited budget, i'll opt for Software RAID.

With Debian 5, there is already RAID 10 available. With 7 SATA 500GB drive (not using motherboard built-in RAID), i've tried numerous time to set up the RAID 10 on my system but to no avail.

My questions are :

- With 7 SATA 500GB drives, if i need to setup RAID 10, how much disk space will i get?

- How are the drives being used in RAID 10?

regards,
GS
