dealing with the horrid vsftpd... ignoring "allow_writeable_chroot"

Code:
anonymous_enable=YES
xferlog_enable=YES
connect_from_port_20=NO
idle_session_timeout=6000
data_connection_timeout=1200
nopriv_user=ftp
allow_writeable_chroot=YES
seccomp_sandbox=NO
pasv_enable=YES
port_enable=NO
listen_port=10000
ftpd_banner=
listen=YES
yes, i know my chroot for the ftp user is writable. this is intentional, and certainly not on a public server. as you can see, i have added "allow_writeable_chroot=YES". so why is vsftpd still complaining about a writable chroot?

What version of vsftpd are you using? I'm not sure allow_writeable_chroot is a valid option for vfstpd.conf.
