Database error - clamav-milter is stopping

today looking at the mail logs i see this:
**Unmatched Entries**
Database error - clamav-milter is stopping
No emails will be scanned

so I reloaded the clam-milter service which got rid of the error message but now i get :
Milter (clmilter): error connecting to filter: Connection refused by /var/run/clamav/clamav-milter.so

mail is sendmail, clamav, spamassassin, brightmail

have anybody come across this before

Thanks in advance
