CUPS: share printer with samba/appsocket rather than ipp

I've been sharing a few printers with Samba over IPP, however I can't figure out if I can share over Samba or AppSocket.

On the CUPS website it says AppSocket is superior to IPP, so than why does IPP appear to be the way CUPS shares printers?
