CUPS printer will not share to windows client - printer does not have correct drivers

Hi all,

I am trying to set up a print server on a RHEL4 box to host printers for a mixed linux/Windows environment.

Samba sharing is on and I have added the printer. When I try to add the printer on a windows xp box, the //server/printername appears okay but when selected I get the message:

Quote:
The server for the printer does not have the correct printer driver installed. If you want to search for the proper driver.....
How can I share the .ppd I am using for this printer?

Ideally, I want to map printers installed on this server to all users (Win2k/XP clients) as well as share them with the other rhel 4 servers.

Oh, and I'm not sure the printer is installed correct. It wrote a .ppd file when I installed it so I overwrote the .ppd with the proper xerox one (.ppd downloaded from vendor's site)
Printer was set up through CUPS using IPP. - When am I supposed to point it to the .ppd file I have???

I have been through a few guides here and elsewhere, but nothing seems to work. All the different pages I have found are confusing me more. Even the Linux Cookbook I have isn't cutting it.

If anyone can assist - thanks in advance.
I will post config details when asked (smb.conf, cups.conf), I am not sure of what you need to see, and don't want to publish all settings if not needed.

Cheers,!
