creating groups with asterisk

Hello Gentlemen,

I hope I'm posting in the right place.

I have successfully installed asterisk and created the extensions. and every body is happy with calling each other :).

But my question is:

Is it possible that I can create a "closed" group?
I mean some group of extensions cannot be reached from everyone else on the system?

They cannot ring them at all?

Thank you very much and a Happy New Year!!

Yes its possible. For that purpose you use different "context". Are you using pure asterisk or any of those distros like elastix, trixbox, etc ?

Read about the extension context and if you have further questions post again. :)

Hey goossen,

Thank you for your reply,

I'll look into it of course, I'm using Elastix not a pure asterisk, would this harm?

Best wishes,

Not exactly, but as Elastix's default behavior is (if I'm not outdated) to have only one global context you might be safer playing with the extensions_custom.conf file.
