My web server has been serving up 2 SSL websites for several years without fail, then all of a sudden this morning I started getting an error when navigating to one of the sites. Connection Refused, which also happens if I try to telnet to port 443 of that site using its dedicated IP address. The other site on the same server, although using a different ip address, is still working just fine. I've rebooted the server, restarted the web services, still the same error. I don't see anything in the log files that indicates any issues. I verified the server is listening on 443 for the IP in question using netstat -an.
The server is Mac OSX 10.7.5.
I am also noticing repeated attempts throughout the day that appear to be an attack via ssh. I'm not sure if this is related.

Since you checked that the server is running and listening on port 443, then there should be a firewall blocking access to that port
