configuring MYSQL 5.0.67 to use multiple cores (processors)
Hello,
I run OpenSUSE 11.1 (64 bit) / MYSQL 5.0.67 to power a web site. The site uses several small queries that keep one core very busy. I recently upgraded to a quad-core machine, and I would like to set the system to use at least 2 of the 4 cores.
Any suggestions?

MySQL will automatically use multiple cores. Individual queries are not split across many cores, but if you've got many queries in parallel, then it will. If it's not doing so, look at how you're doing the queries, I think it's more likely that the server cannot execute them in parallel.

Thank you for your reply.
Do you know of a good test to see the system is capable and just not configured correctly?

I haven't used any mysql, just search for MySQL performance testing tools. First hit I saw was for something called "supersmack". I know that for the main mysql server where I work it will often fully utilized two cores so it's been working for us.
