config for proftpd

I have debian linux with apache and proftpd. I have apache up and running on localhost and now I need to get proftpd working. apache basically set its self up and I have not changed any of the default settings. How do I config ftpd and setup routing on it. Oh if this helps I have web admin installed.

should work out of the box apt-get install proftpd.

start the server /etc/init.d/proftpd start (if server type in/etc/proftp/proftp.conf is set for standalone)
