Complete command line administration of RHCS

Hi,

I am planning to setup a linux cluster in my lab. I am a novice to clustering and in the course of my preparation arose a couple of doubts in my mind. (I don't get answers to these questions while reading the administration guide or the documentation)

1) Is LUCI and RICCI required if we want to go for 100% CLI administration of a cluster?

2) If I have to add a node to an existing cluster using CLI how do I authenticate the node using the password (the luci gui interface has an option to mention the password). I checked the cluster.conf file and there is no mention of a paswword field.

3) Can LUCI be run on one of the node which is a cluster member or should the machine hosting LUCI be out of the cluster?

Any reply would be appreciated. Thank you

1) If you want a cluster with 100% CLI and not managed by Conga, head down the Pacemaker cluster way here: http://clusterlabs.org/
regardless Luci and Ricci packages are required in both the RHEL standard cluster and the Pacemaker/Corosync Cluster model.

2) You have to set the password for ricci, on each clusternode. passwd ricci

3) The machine hosting Luci has to be in the cluster, as it is managing the cluster with Conga (web interface), and the cluster members connect to the host with Luci.

Re-read the admin guides and documentation.
