What log files should I be looking at on centos? And where would they be. Can't see anything in the pureftpd folder.

Cheers

They should be in
/var/log/*
Also, try to make a connection using the CLI
Code:
ftp <IP>
Can you connect from the server?
Code:
ftp 127.0.0.1

the log 'pureftpd.log' seems to be totally empty and when I try ftp from the server i get 'command not found' If i try to ftp the IP address of the server from filezilla I can only get in anonymously as soon as I add a password i can't get anywhere.

It must me something to do with my pure-ftpd conf file??

Thanks

right i found a log file in /var/log/messages it just says authentication failed. However I know the password to be correct. I assume ispconfig sets up a unix user? I'm pretty sure pro-ftpd wasn't working from a mysql database.

Ended up with vsftpd - that seemed to work first time and has solved all the slow logins and timeouts that i had with proftpd.

Thanks for all your help folks.
