cgi-bin error 403 in some cases.

Have something really strange going on and hope someone can help me.
Using Apache 2.2.8 on a Centos box.

If I want to execute a script without any extension is works perfectly f I rename the script to ex.. first.pl I get error 403 access denied.
Same thing happens with cgi script, no extension or "-cgi" it works When changing to ".cgi" or ".pl" I get the error.

Since the scripts are called from some programms it is not really easy to change this. On another box with an older version of Apache it works with no problems.

Anyone??

OK solved the problem by placing Sethandler cgi-script in the conf file in the directory.

The why is unclear to me. Never had this problem on older version of Apache.
