Centos: no local address available.

I have a centos server loosing network connectivity from time to time

The only error message is:
Quote:
Sep 7 11:48:00 myserver avahi-daemon[2853]: Withdrawing address record for 192.168.5.3 on eth0.
Sep 7 11:48:00 myserver avahi-daemon[2853]: Leaving mDNS multicast group on interface eth0.IPv4 with address 192.168.5.3.
Sep 7 11:48:00 myserver avahi-daemon[2853]: iface.c: interface_mdns_mcast_join() called but no local address available.
Sep 7 11:48:00 myserver avahi-daemon[2853]: Interface eth0.IPv4 no longer relevant for mDNS.
Sep 7 11:48:00 myserver kernel: eth0 is down
Sep 7 11:48:00 myserver kernel: SEND MESSAGE to USER, ret = 0, family_id=22
Sep 7 11:48:00 myserver kernel: lo is down
Sep 7 11:48:00 myserver kernel: SEND MESSAGE to USER, ret = 0, family_id=22
Sep 7 11:48:01 myserver kernel: lo is up
Sep 7 11:48:01 myserver kernel: SEND MESSAGE to USER, ret = 0, family_id=22
Sep 7 11:48:01 myserver kernel: eth0: Using EEPROM-set media 100baseTx-FDX.
Sep 7 11:48:01 myserver kernel: eth0 is up
Sep 7 11:48:01 myserver kernel: SEND MESSAGE to USER, ret = 0, family_id=22
The problem is being solved after /etc/init.d/network restart so it isn't a cable problem

Centos version is "release 5.6 (Final)"
Any ideas how to fix this problem?

Thank you

Did you configure multicasting in your network?

Code:
Sep 7 11:48:00 myserver avahi-daemon[2853]: Withdrawing address record for 192.168.5.3 on eth0.
Sep 7 11:48:00 myserver avahi-daemon[2853]: Leaving mDNS multicast group on interface eth0.IPv4 with address 192.168.5.103.
These 2 seem important as well. Withdrawing... so for some reason it removes the IP from that interface.
The line you put in bold might be just the consequence of the IP being removed.

Could you posts more log info before the lines you posted?

No multicast configured.

Both IPs to your quote are 192.168.5.3 (wrong copy paste....).

Before these lines there is nothing important:
Quote:

Sep 2 01:01:44 myserver snmpd[3268]: Received SNMP packet(s) from UDP: [192.168.5.60]:49663

Sep 2 01:01:44 myserver snmpd[3268]: Received SNMP packet(s) from UDP: [192.168.5.60]:49566

I think disabling avahi daemon will solve the problem.
I don't know if this is relevant with misconfiguration from my part.

Still strange this happens.

I think you can safely disable avahi.
Maybe do this and let it run for some time and see if this fixed it.
