Cannot send e-mail after updating SSL cert

Hello. I have an e-mail server running on CentOS 5.9, running Sendmail. We updated our SSL cert, but now clients cannot send out e-mails from Outlook when using SSL and port 465, like it worked before. Receiving e-mail with SSL on port 995 works fine.

Our SSL Certificate expired, so we generated a new one, but used a length of 2048 for the new one. The new cert is installed and works well with Apache and POP3 secure. The Outlook (as well as Outlook express, Windows Live mail, Thunderbird) will receive the following error when sending: Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified. Try changed the encryption method (0x800ccc1A).

Any ideas where the problem might be? Does SSL SMTP have an issue with 2048 encryption?

When I run a test, I get the following error:

[root@mail mail]# openssl s_client -connect mail.j.net:465
CONNECTED(00000003)
12307:error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol:s23_clnt.c:588:

I've verified the paths the certs in sendmail.mc are correct, as well....

I had to reinstall the SSL cert, and then reset to the permissions to read only (chmod 400) on the .crt and the .key file.
