Cannot access Samba Server Outside Home network.
I am currently running Fedora 17 and I have set up a Samba Server, Web Server, and SSH Server. The Samba server works perfect when I am accessing the shares within my network. When I try to access the Samba shares from the external IP I cannot mount the shares or view them. I do have ports 137-139 and 445 open.
Any Suggestions? Thank you |
I think this could be a lot of things but I would start here

Thank you very much, I believe everything is working correctly.

I had a problem like this with a remote smb share that I accessed from my laptop. It sometimes worked and other times didn't and eventually I found that certain ISPs were blocking smb somehow. The solution was to ssh tunnel the connection.

i didnt even know it was possible to connect to a samba share outside of a network.
i use sshfs for this purpose. |
